17 JulDay fourteen… I Spy With My Little Eye…

Saturday morning brought us even more fun with the Beatles blaring through the hallways waking up the campers. We didn’t even make it out to the field before the campers were dancing like madmen!

After a hardy breakfast and lots of laughter, it was time to break up into teams one last time, putting our creative minds to the test, and inventing some hysterically orchestrated skits to teach our fellows campers about the different wildlife they would see on the nature walk to the river! The campers got turned themselves into inanimate objects, rivers, birds and even wild boar and we learned so much about the vegetation and animals all around Fuente Alberche. Soon after we lathered up on sunscreen, filled up our water bottles and took off!

Along the way, we stopped for some great photo ops, but mostly enjoyed the great outdoors, amazing views and hearing lots of fun facts about the things we were spotting! We saw almost every last thing we’d just learned about from the skits, except the wild boar (bummer!!) and the viper snake (THANK GOODNESS!!).

We spent the afternoon at the river and got to embrace it to the fullest because of the high temperatures! The kids had a blast throwing one another in the water, and even got some of the monitors and teachers in on the action! The pasta salad that was prepared for us was delicious, causing the campers to ask for seconds and thirds!! Even the dessert, small, savory pears, were perfect!!

The day was going so well, we thought it couldn’t get any better…until we got back to camp and ready for dinner! Everyone looked so beautiful and handsome for the “Last Supper”, as we enjoyed a scrumptious BBQ including an array of meats and vegetables, followed up by the American classic of s’mores, which had everyone asking for s’more!

To end the night, everyone got their dancing shoes on and we danced until we dropped, to oldies and current hits, even breaking out the limbo stick and the weeks most requested song, Cha Cha slide.

This group of campers has gotten so close in a weeks time, some over the course of the last two weeks! While we are excited to meet the new campers tomorrow, our hearts are heavy at the thought of saying goodbye to many of these wonderful kids. Fuente Alberche has turned into a home away from home for many of us, and we will miss this crazy that we have formed!
